How to Use Reiki for Better Sleep

Using Reiki for Better Sleep

In my last post I talked about how Reiki can boost your immune system, today I am going to share with you how to use Reiki for better sleep at night. Be it a loss of sleep due to too much thinking or be it a medical condition of insomnia, Reiki can be of great help.

Sleeplessness can occur to people of all ages in times of stress. Its normal for people to experience reduced sleep in old age. But for young people, good sleep is a must. Otherwise it can cause lots of health problems.

If this remains untreated, people may suffer from health hazards like amnesia (loss of memory), cardiac problems, mental depressions, irritability, muscle ache, immune deficiency and they may face accidents while handling heavy machines or while driving a vehicle.

In order to get rid from this problem along with associated dangers its important to take medical help and practice Reiki for good sleep. Reiki can aid faster recovery to optimal health. Reiki goes hand in hand with the recommendations of the Doctor.

People who take sleeping pills indiscriminately or who consume narcotic drugs or beverages, may cause more harm to the body than lack of sleep. So instead of such unhealthy options, they can get the help of this holistic and spiritual treatment of Reiki.

It has been observed that people who have learnt Reiki or have undergone Reiki treatment for sleeplessness are able to enter a completely relaxed state of mind easily.

Most important Reiki point for better sleep

You have to give Reiki self treatment on the 3rd eye chakra to get rid of the problem of insomnia or sleeplessness. With regular practice of Reiki you can enter deep sleep in minutes.

I have many students who came to learn Reiki for better sleep and when they came for Reiki 2nd degree course they had overcome the problem of sleep.

Before I start the Reiki course I normally ask if the student or any family member has any problem. One of my student Dr Pereira had mentioned to me that his father had insomnia.

As an assignment I told him to give Reiki on 3rd eye chakra to his father just before going to sleep. He gave Reiki for approx 15 minutes. His father did not even remember when he fell asleep. He woke up feeling refreshed after many months.

It also has been reported many times by many of my students that even the first session of Reiki gives good results. Many insomniac people often sleep better as compared to the other days when Reiki is given to them.

Also, Reiki self treatment procedure on all the 7 chakra's has a relaxing impact on the body and the mind. It is one of the most important and rewarding thing to do for good sleep. Sleep has a refreshing effect on the body as well as on the mind.

Mudra Therapy for Better Sleep

As per Mudra Therapy Gyan Mudra is very useful in getting natural sleep. For this you have to bring together the tip of the index fingure and the thumb as shown in the image below.

You have to hold this hand mudra for minimum 10 to 15 for it to get activated. If you do this 15 minutes 3 times a day, you get good results. While on the bed do it till you get sleep.

Reiki practitioners will get faster and better results because they are familiar with energy work and the channel are open after Reiki attunement.

Is it OK to fall asleep during Reiki?

Reiki therapy harmonizes all the chakras or the energy centers of the body. Reiki self healing procedure can be followed any time of the day to get peace and relaxation you want. But particularly for this condition one should practice it before going to sleep to get the best result.

A deep sleep and relaxation can be experienced by the practitioner if he or she falls asleep while performing this procedure.

Reiki Hand Positions for Sleep

The practitioner should maintain each position at least for five minutes. He or she has to maintain four positions. These procedures should be followed one by one from position 1 to position 4.

  • Note: For this procedure to work at optimum level you should have completed Reiki Level 1 but there is no harm to try it even now so you can see the difference when you do learn Reiki yourself.

Reiki Positions 1 for Sleep

In the first position the two palms should be kept on both the closed eyes and the palms should rest on the cheek bones of either sides of the face.

This position usually reduces the mental stress and purifies your thoughts. This position also accelerates the meditative state. This position should be maintained for five minutes.

Reiki Positions 2 for Sleep

Next, both the hands should be placed on chest on both sides. Fingers should touch lower borders of the collar bones or clavicles of either side.

This position normalizes the blood pressure, harmonizes the heart rate, and improves the functions of immune system and the lymphatic system in the body.

Reiki Positions 3 for Sleep

After this, one hand should be kept above the navel and another hand should be kept below the navel and the Reiki practitioner should just relax himself or herself maximally to facilitate the flow of Reiki energy throughout the body.

This procedure is helpful to restore the energy and the vital physiological functions of the body. It is helpful to treat the digestive organs including stomach and also heals the solar plexus. This position is usually helpful for the strong emotions like fear and depression.

Reiki Positions 4 for Sleep

Finally in the last position, both the hands should be kept on the lower abdomen in the shape of “V”. The finger tips should touch each other at pubic area (the meeting point of both the pubic bones).

This position is helpful to treat the coupling organs and excretory organs like bladder and urethra. It enhances the level of trust and self confidence, which in turn helps to acquire a easy sleep.

After completing all the steps in this self-treatment process, the Reiki practitioner can experiences a deep calmness within himself. The practitioner should be in this state of deep relaxation as long as he/she desires or fall asleep in this deeply satisfying state.

Reiki for Good Sleep

How to Use Reiki for Better Sleep?

As you know, Reiki can be used for a variety of purposes. This includes using Reiki for good sleep at night. In fact, many people feel sleepy while doing Reiki self treatment. Most people even when someone is giving Reiki treatment to them. In this observation lies the secret of getting good sleep, isn't it?

You enter a deeper level of the mind as soon as Reiki energy starts flowing through you. For this reason I recommend my students to do the morning Reiki self treatment in a sitting position. Even at any other time of the day you should do Reiki while sitting on a chair or on yoga mat.

At night you can do Reiki while you are on the bed. You many not be able to complete all the Reiki hand positions. You may fall asleep in the middle of your Reiki self treatment. That's absolutely fine!

If you didn't fell asleep after completing the self treatment just relax! Just continue relaxing in the most comfortable hand position and continue to give Reiki. If you have problem with sleep it will take a few sessions for your body and mind to learn to fall asleep wile Reiki is turned on in sleeping position.

Healing the underlying cause of Insomia

Once Catherine a Reiki fan from England contacted me for Reiki distance healing. She was having disturbed sleep since many days. She had tried Reiki earlier so she trusted that Reiki will work again. As we progressed with the healing she was getting better sleep. In our interactions I discovered that the root cause of the problem for her job situation.

I realized that she is going to need the healing till she gets a better job. But finding a new job was going to take time. So I suggested her to learn Reiki so that she can heal herself and also use Reiki for her other goals.  I assured her that I will be available to guide her always. I also told her that I will do distance healing if at any point she feels that she can not handle the situation by herself. I tried to empower her in this way.

After learning Reiki she was not only able to help herself sleep better but over the next 6 months she got a much better job and her life situations had changed a lot for the better. She could just fall asleep as soon as she hit the bed.

With practice your mind learns to fall asleep as soon as you start your Reiki self treatment on bed. When this starts to happen you might miss out on your night self treatment if you are unable to do it in the morning.

If you are doing Reiki for personal or spiritual growth you might want to complete your self treatment in sitting position and then continue giving Reiki in sleeping position till you fall asleep. This brings us to another question:

Is it OK to fall asleep during Reiki?

First of all as I said earlier, it is normal to fall asleep during Reiki especially when you are in sleeping position on your bed.

  • If you are doing Reiki for self growth then you must do Reiki in sitting position in the morning and your night Reiki session is a bonus.
  • If you don't get time in morning or during the day, you can do Reiki in sitting position at night so that you do not fall asleep. You might feel sleepy but its unlikely you will enter deep sleep in sitting position. Once you complete your daily sadhana (spiritual practice) you can go to sleep.
  • If you are doing Reiki for good sleep then you can do Reiki in sleeping position and fall asleep while doing Reiki. This sleep will be deep and relaxing.

Another Success Story from Ohio

Marilyn is one of my student who did my Mudra therapy course online. After completing the course she sent me an email to share with me the problem of insomnia. She was finding it difficult to fall asleep and she had tried many things to solve this problem.

She tried to keep personal busy during the day so that she could have a good sleep at night. She had started a business from home to achieve this goal. The cause of the problem was depression and keeping herself busy was helping her a lot. But she felt that there was scope for improvement. She was feeling tired exhausted and irritable during the day because of lack of restful sleep.

After she started her journey in Reiki she started to see her life from a different perspective. She started to feel more balanced calm and peaceful within. She was giving Reiki to the third eye chakra everyday for 15 minutes in the morning and before going to sleep. After three months she shared with me that her sleep patterns has changed dramatically.

Some people experience a shortening of their sleep time when they start doing Reiki regularly. This is because the body relaxes deeply during Reiki so you need less sleep to feel refreshed and energized.

This is good news for people who want to do more in life as it gives them more time to accomplish their goals or to progress further on the spiritual path by spending the time available in doing more sadhana.
